Welcome!

We extend a warm welcome to you and your child to Oak Grove United Methodist Church nurseries.  This information is provided to encourage communication and cooperation between parents and nursery employees so that all babies and toddlers may be cared for in a loving, safe, age appropriate environment.   Please read carefully and then leave your child with us, relax and enjoy the service or program.

MISSION STATEMENT

As we discover, disciple and serve in our church and community, our goal is to supplement the family in its desire to establish a spiritual foundation within a nurturing environment that, in God’s timing, will lead a child into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

Purpose of Nursery Services

To help each child:

• Feel comfortable, loved, happy and special.

• Feel secure with nursery teachers and other children.

• Have a positive experience at church.

• Grow spiritually, emotionally, mentally and socially.

• Have a safe, clean and happy Christian environment when they are at church.

Nursery Teachers:  We strive to have two or more teachers present in classrooms at all times.  At least one adult is assigned to each class.  We try to keep the same personnel in your child’s class for consistency.  Our Nursery teachers supervise the safety, welfare and education of our young children.

Parent Greeters: Parents of children in our Church Nursery are asked to volunteer as greeters on Sunday mornings. Greeters help direct visitors to the appropriate room for their children and aid the Nursery teachers with the transition of children into the rooms. Parents are asked to serve one or two Sundays during the year.

Drop-off and Pick-up of Children:  The nursery will open fifteen minutes prior to meetings and church services.  Parents should pick up their children immediately following the service, meeting or function.  Please inform your child’s nursery teacher if someone other than you or your spouse will be picking up your child.  Please fill out the nursery information sheet each Sunday stating where in the church you may be found.

Silent Pagers:  Silent vibrating pagers are provided for those with babies and for any parent/visitor who feels s/he needs to be reached (e.g. a toddler going through separation anxiety, etc.).  There are 29 pagers that can reach any part of our church facility.

Toys:  We have a wide variety of safe, age-appropriate equipment/toys for children.  We ask that children not bring toys or other possessions from home.  Toys sometimes cannot withstand the hard use placed on them in the nursery.  Also, toys tend to get lost and confused with the church’s toys.

Nursing Mothers:  Please tell a teacher if you need to nurse your baby.  They can direct you to a quiet area.

Snack Time:  A snack is provided for toddlers through 4 years old.  Please provide a cup for water or juice.  (Having your child’s name on the cup is very important.)  Usually the snack includes a cracker or cookies.  Please notify us if your child has any food allergies.

Worship Services:  Both the crib room and the toddler room are open during the 8:30 a.m. Worship Service.  Toddlers may be taken to room 105 and babies to room 110.

Five nursery rooms are open during 9:35 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Worship Services and Sunday school.
